Tackle it Tuesday – May 14, 2019

VA Day at the Guard. The next Tackle it Tuesday event will be May 14th with appointment hours between 1100-1400 at the Biden National Guard/Reserve Center, 1 Vavala Way, New Castle, Delaware 19720. Appointments are highly recommended. Representatives will be able to help with enrollment in the VA, disability claims, healthcare eligibility, accessing medical records, service-connected disability issues, and VA home loan eligibility. Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Town Hall – May 15, 2019

This is a quarterly event and this quarter’s topic is “Resources for Children with Special Needs.” There will also be a mini-resource fair to be held May 15th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by the Town Hall from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Youth Center on Dover Air Force Base. Representatives from community organizations that provide support for children with needs will be available for answering any questions. As part of the Town Hall, there will be a presentation covering the Air Force EFMP Respite program, applying for Social Security disability benefits, and applying for Medicaid. AUSA Delaware Golf Scramble – May 17, 2019

The Delaware Chapter, AUSA is planning its second Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Salt Pond Golf Club in Ocean View, DE (302-539-7525). The format is a (4-person) Team Scramble/Captain’s Choice. Registration begins at 7:30 AM and there is a shotgun start at 9:00 AM. Entries close Friday, May 3rd and the field is limited to 84 players. Please fill out the entry form and mail to CSM(Ret) Jim Vavala at the address listed. The proceeds from our Golf Scramble will benefit the Delaware Veterans Trust Fund. Cost is $65 per person/$260 per team which includes green fees, cart (mandatory), range balls, team prizes, men, ladies, and mixed couples division with golf skills events, and a catered lunch. There will also be complimentary coffee and donuts provided as a courtesy by The Salt Pond Golf Club. Non-metal spikes and appropriate golf attire are required. Our Community Salutes – May 29, 2019

Our Community Salutes, Delaware High School Enlistee Recognition Dinner will be held May 29th at 6:30 PM at Cavaliers Country Club, Newark Delaware. This is one of our chapter’s flagship events and a great way to support our newest Soldiers. The dinner recognizes and honors local high school seniors who elect to enlist in our nation’s armed forces upon graduation. Your participation and support are crucial for the success of our event.
